reading matters, so let's make public library reader services awesome!

beach reads, train reads

Great idea, Broome Public Libraries! Beach Reads gets books into the hands of people relaxing on the beach – they’re not in the library, this makes good use of donated or weeded books, it ticks the community outreach box, and it’s also a great way to promote eBooks. I’d like to try this for Great  Summer Reads. If you don’t have a beach, you could promote to people at the shops or train commuters, particularly if the shops and trains have wifi. All it would take is a box of books, an hour or two, some info on online resources or joining the library, and a friendly staff member. You could be mobile or use good signage. How can you get people reading in your community (when they haven’t come in to the library)?
